Invent a Salsa!

Ashley Elementary 5th grade class have fun with their teachers making salsa . . . and trying it, too!

Recipe: Invent-a-Salsa: Tomato Salsa

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tomatoes cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 Anaheim chili pepper cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 bell pepper cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 small red onion cut into 4 small pieces (1/12 of an onion)
  • 1 zucchini cut into 2 pieces
  • 2 limes cut each lime in half
  • 1 bunch of cilantro divide into 3 bunches
  • Salt and hot sauce to taste

DIRECTIONS: Slice all ingredients into bite-sized pieces, then mix together. Season with salt and hot sauce to taste.

Recipe: Pineapple Salsa  – Hint – Just like Tomato Salsa, but also add 20 oz. pineapple tidbits.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 20 oz. pineapple tidbits
  • 4 tomatoes cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 Anaheim chili pepper cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 bell pepper cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 small red onion cut into 4 small pieces (1/12 of an onion)
  • 1 zucchini cut into 2 pieces
  • 2 limes cut each lime in half
  • 1 bunch of cilantro divide into 3 bunches
  • Salt and hot sauce to taste

Recipe: Corn Salsa (Hint – Just like tomato salsa, but add 15 ounces cooked corn)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 15 ounces corn:
  • 4 tomatoes cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 Anaheim chili pepper cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 bell pepper cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 small red onion cut into 4 small pieces (1/12 of an onion)
  • 1 zucchini cut into 2 pieces
  • 2 limes cut each lime in half
  • 1 bunch of cilantro divide into 3 bunches
  • Salt and hot sauce to taste

  • Salt and hot sauce to taste
